A Relationship With Which god?

Image
What is the most common conversation you might have with a Christian?  I'd wager that somewhere in a conversation with a Christian, no matter the denomination, a relationship with God will be mentioned. We might even be the ones who bring it up! This is a natural topic of conversation since that is the most important relationship we have, but there is a hidden danger in this discussion. The main danger is the fact that there are usually two different gods being referenced, especially when you get out into mainstream Christianity. What I mean is that many remake God in their own image, essentially making themselves, or the relationship, God  Philippians 3:18-19 KJV — (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Our relationship with God is vital. It is the most important relationship w...

Truth Is Subjective...?

Image
Why Is Truth? Truth is a subjective moral construct based on your own personal experiences and ideas and is therefore different and changing for everyone, giving rise to the term “my truth.” This is a sound idea with no possible room for error or confusion based on someone else’s definition of what the truth is or not. Is it true, though, this idea? Well, what is truth? I might say it’s true, but you might disagree; because both of us can have our own truth, we are both right! Except, wait. What if only one of us can be correct such as in a trivia competition? Hmm. Well, I’m sure it will be fine. This modern and progressive idea allows us such liberties as gender fluidity, abortion that’s not murder, and homosexuality. It allows for our government and anyone else to redefine the truth as is convenient for them. Who am I to say what their truth is, after all? Since we can “change” the truth just by wishing it to be so, what is truth? Observing the very definition of it becomes imp...

Love and Tolerance

Image
Lately, I've been reading through Romans and the love chapter in Corinthians for my personal bible study. I noticed something interesting in my reading: Love and the holy spirit are inextricably linked together. This makes love really, really important, a paramount aspect of our faith in Jesus Christ. Since love is so important, there are a couple of questions we should probably answer in order for us to be able to properly express it. What is love, and how do we show it? Does loving people mean we tolerate and accept anything? This last question is going to be the main focus of this article, for answering the other questions is beyond the scope of a single article. We hear a lot about love and tolerance these days. On the news, on social media, from our friends, and maybe even from the pulpit at Church. They tell us that the terms love and tolerance are interchangeable with each other. We are told that to love someone, we must tolerate all of their actions. There's only one ...

The Battle For Our Children’s Minds

Image
Not so long ago I was doing a chair massage event at an elementary school, and in between massages, I had some time to watch the kids out playing at recess. If you have never watched a bunch of kids under eleven playing together, it’s very entertaining. They are so cute, boys being boys and girls being girls, running around laughing and screaming. They are still so innocent, seemingly untouched by Satan’s world. It’s so beautiful and natural! This is their most impressionable age. They will never be this impressionable again, so good at mimicking what they see and hear around them. They are prime targets for the evil ones.  Believe it or not, as baptized adults we are not the easiest targets for Satan. We have the holy spirit in us, and we know our Bible. Our brains have lost most of their elasticity, and we aren’t so impressionable. We certainly can be deceived 1 , but we have a shield around our minds composed of the Holy Spirit. We aren’t so innocent, and we know how to fight ba...
