Building on the Foundation

  Who do you associate with? What kind of people are your closest friends? Aside from literal siblings, who do you consider to be your brothers and sisters? The answer to these questions matters a great deal.  Proverbs 12:26 tells us: “ The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray .” And in 1 Corinthians 15:33: “ Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits .” All this is very true in regards to our co-workers, neighbors and friends, and should be dutifully considered when making or retaining friends, but these basic truths and biblical guidelines are even more important when it comes to our spiritual family.   Proverbs 18:24 “ A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother .” Who do you consider to be your spiritual brothers and sisters? There is a new trend in the modern world that is not at all new. People call it “new age” religion, but there is nothing unique to this age about it. Spirituality is the hot new thing, which sounds great on the surface, but flowing underneath it is a current that is pure evil. On its surface, it all seems very innocent and harmless like this particular spirituality is the answer to all mankind's problems, but dig a little deeper, and you find the one providing the answers is Satan himself. A topic debated of old in the Church of God is that of makeup. To wear it or not to wear it is the question, and many try to prove that only prostitutes wear makeup. In the Bible anyways. In spite of this it has long since been proven that the Bible has nothing to say against makeup directly, though nor does it have anything to say in favor of it. It seems to be entirely neutral on the subject, and since my desire and endeavor is to be strong where the Bible is strong and soft where it is quiet, it would seem that is that. Or so one would think. A certain video and the fact that women look more beautiful to me when they go all natural prompted me to revisit the topic from a slightly different angle.
